Free Printable Pillow Care Checklist
Every morning
- Fluff and reshape your pillow, especially feather and fibre types.
- Check your pillow protector is in place.
Regularly
- Wash your pillow protector and pillowcase.
- Before washing a pillow, read the care label and wash only if it allows.
- Dry completely before use.
Every few months
- Fold test: fold the pillow in half and let go. It should spring back.
- Saddlebag test: lay it over your arm. It should hold itself up rather than flop at both ends.
- Check for lumps, flat areas, stains and smells that stay after washing.
Every one to two years
- Plan to replace your pillow. This is a common rule of thumb, and some higher-quality natural or foam pillows last longer.
Replace sooner if
- It stays folded or is slow to recover.
- Both ends flop in the saddlebag test.
- The filling is flat or lumpy.
- Stains or smells remain after washing.
